    Software Support Specialist
    Tulare/CA

    SOFTWARE SUPPORT SPECIALIST

     

    The Software Support Specialist in our Dairy Comp and FeedWatch departments are a customer service role within our company that is designed to support our customer base in providing excellent support and by providing solutions for our proprietary software system: Dairy Comp 305 and FeedWatch. While this is a technical role, an expertise in dairy will provide the background needed for this position. The support is done through communication and building relationships via telephone, internet, email, and periodic face-to-face meetings with our customers.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    ·         Answer calls when customers call in with technical problems and/or concerns with regards to software and hardware systems

    ·         Troubleshoot customer computer systems to identify errors and perform modifications to repair issues

    ·         Train customers as needed in use of proprietary software and hardware systems

    ·         Work with customers to ensure hardware is repaired if system failure occurs

    ·         Communicate via email and phone with customers, employees, and/or vendors to resolve issues, for training purposes, and for all general business purposes

    ·         Responsible for keeping up with program changes to ensure that the most current knowledge–base is utilized

    ·         Will be on-call according to schedule

    ·         Document all communication with customers in customer databases

    ·         Confer with staff and management to establish requirements for modifications

    ·         Will maintain SOP’s for position being performed

    ·         Will work cohesively with others

    ·         Develop training materials and procedures for the use of training

    ·         Promote proprietary systems with dairymen, veterinarians, instructors, and all other customers

    ·         Write reports for customers to utilize in the normal line of business as specified by the customer

    ·         Periodically test existing and new software versions of programs to ensure programs are working to maximum utilization

    ·         Assist in various local sales and marketing activities throughout the year at different locations

    ·         Will perform all other duties as assigned and needed

     

    REPORT TO

     

    ·         This position will report to the VP of Customer Success

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    ·         There are no supervisory responsibilities required for this position

     

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

     

    ·         Education required for this position is a four-year degree; or equivalent experience to a four-year degree;

    ·         Experience required for this position include two to five years in a similar environment in progressive dairy management or consulting with larger dairies with a high level of expertise in the routine on-farm use of Dairy Comp 305 or similar programs; or the equivalent education and experience

     

    JOB LOCATION

     

    ·         Qualified applicants will be accepted from all over the US with the opportunity to work in the main Tulare, CA Office, or remotely from your home location within the US.

    ·         In office training, will be required.

    Data Analyst

    Job Description
    VAS, the world leader in Dairy Herd Management systems is seeking an experienced Data Analyst to add to our team. The successful candidate will work closely with members of Sales, Support, Operations, Finance and Development teams to evaluate trends though the design and development of reports and the analysis and interpretation of data. This includes the development of database tools, data analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of HPSM quality studies and programs, and provision of data support for various programs and ad hoc reports.

     

    **While this is initially a telecommuting position, we will only be considering candidates located in the Thousand Oaks, California area as a new location will be established in Thousand Oaks in the next 2 months.
     

     

    Key Responsibilities

     
    • Develop and maintain databases for use in data analysis and tracking.
    • Perform data cleaning, extraction, processing, storage, manipulation, and analyses.
    • Perform validation procedures to ensure data quality.
    • Maintain detailed documentation of programming and analyses.
    • Produce tables, graphs, and charts for reports and presentation.
    • Communicate project results to managers and various users.
    • Designing and developing relational databases for collecting data and creating data collection screens.
    • Participate in decisions regarding study design, data collection, and data analysis.
    • Analyze data with statistical methods.
    • Interpret results and providing written summaries of analyses.
    • Support other information and data needs and assisting in developing technical solutions.

     

    Required KSA’s

     
    • Database Management (MS SQL preferred);
    • Advanced Spreadsheets, relational databases, and Power BI or related;
    • Basic statistical concepts, models and procedures;
    • Clear communication skills both verbally and written;
    • Organization and time management;
    • Analyzation and reporting;
    • Intermediate level understanding of financial systems within an organization.

     

    Education/Experience Required

     
    • Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience working in similar role;
    • Four-year degree from an accredited university with a Bachelor’s degree in the field of Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Economics, Engineering or related field, and/or equivalent work experience;

    Big Data Engineer
    Thousand Oaks, California, USA

    Seeking an exceptional Data Engineer to work on data products at the core of our company's business. Our data model and infrastructure, and customer-facing information dashboards are deeply reliant on your work.

    In this role you'll be responsible for building data processing pipelines, data analysis, and visualization tools using Hadoop/Hive/Cassandra/HBase/Spark class of technologies. You will be working with internal and external teams driving system architecture and design, analyzing data, and producing insights.
