    HR Generalist

    The Opportunity

    Valley Agricultural Software (VAS) has an immediate opening for the position of HR Generalist.

    The HR Generalist will work with the Global Director of Human Resources (parent company) and VAS management to define and implement HR strategies that are aligned with business plans.

    This role offers the opportunity to join a team dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the organizations core HR functions, by providing diverse expertise across all areas of HR.

    The HR Generalist will partner with business leaders in all business units globally (parent companies included) to provide specialized coaching, support and will provide transactional support on all HR initiatives related to the workforce.

     

    Primary Responsibilities

    This role maintains and enhances the organizations human resources by providing generalist expertise across the functional areas of HR (recruitment, payroll, talent management, compliance, employee relations, total rewards, leadership development, etc.) to enable business results.

     

    Payroll

     
    • Perform payroll and benefits operations
    • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely
    • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports
    • Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits
    • Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance.
    • Review and execute electronic time and attendance processing and interface with payroll
    • Process accurate and timely year-end reporting when necessary (W-2, W-2c, 5050 etc.)
    • Process the enrollment of payroll, medical insurance, workers’ comp insurance, 401k and other benefits etc.

     

    HR Operations, Employee Relations, Learning and Development, Culture

     
    • Provide coaching and support management on:  
      • leadership development,
      • talent and performance management,
      • succession planning,
      • career development planning,
      • salary and bonus review,
      • change and people management issues
    • Plan, develop, and support HR policies, programs and procedures.
    • Compliance issues (e.g. changes to employment standards, etc.)
    • Coordinate the delivery of internal and sponsored training programs to employees
    • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on employee needs
    • Employee communications as needed

     

    Talent Acquisition – Recruitment

     
    • Work closely with the hiring managers to attract, source and recruit new talent in a sales capacity
    • Full cycle recruitment activities include editing and creating job descriptions, posting jobs in various locations, reviewing resumes, telephone screening, recommending candidates to hiring managers and preparing employment letters
    • Administer and manage employee transactions including new employees, transfers, promotions and terminations in HR records and systems
    • Conduct new employee orientations and manage the onboarding process

     

    Skills and Qualifications

     
    • A minimum of 5 years experience working within an HR Generalist role
    • Although a designation or post graduate degree preferred, the combination of education and employee relations experience will be considered
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • High integrity with ability to maintain confidentiality and manage highly sensitive information.

    Data Analyst

    Job Description
    VAS, the world leader in Dairy Herd Management systems is seeking an experienced Data Analyst to add to our team. The successful candidate will work closely with members of Sales, Support, Operations, Finance and Development teams to evaluate trends though the design and development of reports and the analysis and interpretation of data. This includes the development of database tools, data analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of HPSM quality studies and programs, and provision of data support for various programs and ad hoc reports.

     

    **While this is initially a telecommuting position, we will only be considering candidates located in the Thousand Oaks, California area as a new location will be established in Thousand Oaks in the next 2 months.
     

     

    Key Responsibilities

     
    • Develop and maintain databases for use in data analysis and tracking.
    • Perform data cleaning, extraction, processing, storage, manipulation, and analyses.
    • Perform validation procedures to ensure data quality.
    • Maintain detailed documentation of programming and analyses.

    Big Data Engineer

    Software Support Specialist

    The Software Support Specialist in our Dairy Comp and FeedWatch departments are a customer service role within our company that is designed to support our customer base in providing excellent support and by providing solutions for our proprietary software system: Dairy Comp 305 and FeedWatch. While this is a technical role, an expertise in dairy will provide the background needed for this position. The support is done through communication and building relationships via telephone, internet, email, and periodic face-to-face meetings with our customers. 

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

     
    • Answer calls when customers call in with technical problems and/or concerns with regards to software and hardware systems
    • Troubleshoot customer computer systems to identify errors and perform modifications to repair issues
    • Train customers as needed in use of proprietary software and hardware systems
    • Work with customers to ensure hardware is repaired if system failure occurs
    • Communicate via email and phone with customers, employees, and/or vendors to resolve issues, for training purposes, and for all general business purposes 
    • Responsible for keeping up with program changes to ensure that the most current knowledge–base is utilized
    • Will be on-call according to schedule 
    • Document all communication with customers in customer databases
    • Confer with staff and management to establish requirements for modifications

    SALES MANAGER


    The Sales Manager position is responsible for the sales of offered products and services for the company. The responsibilities of this position primarily include the management of our Marketing and Sales Teams.     EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

     
    • The ideal candidate will have 5 to 7 years’ experience working in a similar role or capacity
    • Education required for this position is a four year Bachelor’s degree in the field of Business Administration, Agricultural Business, Sales & Marketing or related field; or the equivalent education and experience
    • Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a management capacity,  with a proven ability to lead people
    • Must possess long and short-term planning and execution skills 
    • The ability to quickly acquire and apply complex product knowledge
    • Must possess strong interpersonal skills 
    • Must have excellent communication and presentation skills
    • Agricultural industry experience is ideal, but considered an asset.
    • Preferable experience with DC305 and Pocket Cow Card products of VAS would be ideal.
       

    WORK ENVIRONMENT & TRAVEL

     
    • This is a working sales management position that requires extensive overnight travel.
    • This person should be legally entitled to work within the United States
